Anneliese Karrasch Brown, 86, passed away on September 3, 2022, at her home in Sandy, Utah. She was a beloved, friend, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Anneliese was born in Kreuzfeld, Lyck, East Prussia (Germany) on February 21, 1936, to Johann Karrasch and Frieda Pentzek. She lived in Germany during WWII where she and her family were refugees. They fled Kreuzfeld seeking safety and after months of traveling Anneliese and her family ended up in Celle, Germany. Anneliese spent her teenage years in Celle, living in the barracks. It was there that she met her friends that introduced her to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Anneliese would walk each week to church activities during the week and on Sundays, often by herself. She joined the church at the age of 18 and served a mission, in Northern Germany, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints shortly thereafter. Anneliese’s faith gave her the desire to be with the saints in Utah. In February of 1958 she traveled by boat to the United States. She landed in Ellis Island and then traveled by bus to Salt Lake City, Utah.

The love of her life was her husband Dennis Deen Brown. They married in the Salt Lake temple on December 5, 1958. Dennis and Anneliese shared 61 years on this earth together. They had four children, Steven, Angela, Kristina and Brian, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. One of their favorite things to do together was travel. They took their family everywhere from camping in the Uintas to Germany to visit her family. They lived in several places in Utah, but finally called Sandy, Utah home for 48 years.

Anneliese loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and truly thought of her ward as family. She was employed at Smith’s for over 40 years, and she loved her work. She was a hard worker and was well respected by her peers and employer.

Anneliese loved to garden and she and Dennis were well known for their beautiful yard, and were often seen out working to keep it looking nice. However, what she loved to do most of all was spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed getting together each week with her friends to study gospel principles and getting her nails done. With her family she loved to go on vacations, getting her hair done, go shopping with her granddaughters, spending the holidays together, and anything else they could find to do together!

She is survived by her sons Steven (Lisa) Brown and Brian (Callie) Brown, a daughter Kristina (Branden) Putnam, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her brother Peter (Marlis) Karrasch. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her daughter Angela, her parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11am at the Mt. Jordan 5th Ward Chapel, 9331 S. 300 E. Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 8, and from 10:00 to 10:45 am Saturday at the same location. Interment will be at the Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 E. 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights
