On Thursday, October 20th, 2022, Cody James McGowan unexpectedly passed away, at 27 years old. He is husband to Kenzie and father to Ryder and Tayvia McGowan. He was born August 18th, 1995, in American Fork UT, to David and Char McGowan.
Cody was a ball of energy from the moment he was born. Nothing could keep him still. Growing up you could find Cody running around the neighborhood with all his friends and siblings. He loved playing sports, especially football. He loved doing anything active. To say Cody was fearless, would be an understatement. He loved any kind of adventure.
Cody is the oldest of 7 children. Cody was loved by his wife, children, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in laws. He loved doing the things he enjoyed with his son Ryder and teaching him all the things that daddy was passionate about. Ryder was his best adventure buddy. Tayvia had her daddy wrapped around her little fingers. She could bring the biggest smile to his face. Cody got his love of fishing, hunting, camping, and just about anything outdoors, from his father David.
Cody was gifted with his hands and could build just about anything. If he could think it up, he would figure out a way to build it. He loved welding and carried that from high school into his work life. He has installed car stereos, built airplane tugs and built swimming pools in his work life.
Cody had the gentlest heart and he had a gift to love and serve others. He was one of the hardest working individuals and gave 110% to anything he was working on. Cody will be missed so much but we know that through God’s grace we will all be together again some day. Our knowledge of our Heavenly Father’s plan for all of us will carry us through this immense grief. We feel so blessed to have had Cody in our lives and we will remember all the wonderful times we shared together here on this earth, and we will continue to look forward to the day we meet again in our Heavenly Father’s presence.
