It is with great sadness and deep sorrow, yet with love in our hearts, and gratitude for a life well lived, that we announce the passing of our beloved Alec Stanley Davis at the age of 78 on September 6, 2025, in St. George, Utah. Fondly known as Stan, or “Stan the Man”, he was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, family member, and friend.
Stan was born on December 26, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a man who approached each day with energy, enthusiasm, and an unwavering zest for living. His boundless curiosity drove him to explore every corner of his journey, always eager to learn, connect, and welcome new opportunities with an open heart. His positivity was contagious, his friendly spirit steady and strong, and his dynamic smile could light up any room. Stan met each day with optimism, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. As a beautiful soul, he showed us how rich and meaningful life can be when lived with passion, kindness and a great sense of humor.
On September 28, 1964, he married the love of his life, Martha (Marti) Louise Howard. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 28, 1977. Together they raised three beautiful daughters: Daphne Dawn, Stephanie Jo, and Lori Ann. Stan was a loyal and loving husband, father and grandfather; his family meant the world to him. He led by example, served others, worked hard, remained humble and instilled those same values in his children and grandchildren.
Stan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life. His love for the Savior, Jesus Christ was clear in the way he lived, served and treated others. He always sought to follow Christ’s example, living with kindness, humility and unwavering dedication in everything he did. His favorite calling was Scoutmaster, where he mentored and guided countless young men, helping shape their lives with patience and wisdom.
He was a dedicated employee who took pride in his work and gave his best in every role he held, whether at CW Silvers, Samon’s Electric and Plumbing, Sports Mall or Beckstrand and Associates. He was known for his professionalism, honesty and integrity and was deeply respected by colleagues and clients alike. Stan was also a skilled handyman who loved fixing things around the house and helping others solve problems. His practical nature was matched by a green thumb, as he cultivated a huge garden that brought beauty and bounty to his home and joy to his family.
Fueled by his love of sports, Stan thrived on activity and competition. From motorcycle racing to freestyle and downhill skiing, mountain biking, tennis, racquetball and golf – he did it all. But his true passion was for the sport of triathlon, where he perfected his skills in swimming, biking and running - a passion he shared with his wife and family – racing in hundreds of events for over 35 years. His favorite race was the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in San Francisco, a grueling and notoriously challenging course that he proudly competed in multiple times.
Stan shared his love of fitness by encouraging family members to compete in friendly competitions, awarding handmade pottery and other prizes to the winners – much to everyone’s delight. He also taught spin classes at the Sports Mall, pouring his heart into creating authentic and motivating experiences through music and movement. His enthusiasm was contagious and inspired many to pursue active and healthy lives.
His deep love for music led him to learn to play the guitar; however, his true gift was recognizing songs within just a few beats and singing along from the very first word he heard. Stan especially loved country and classic rock and roll music, which became the soundtrack to many joyful moments in his life. “Country Roads” was his favorite to sing in recent years.
Stan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His ability to connect with people and make them feel seen and valued was a true gift. He was a man of honor and decency, and people of all ages were naturally drawn to his vibrant spirit and sense of humor. He will be remembered with deep affection and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
In his final days, Stan was gently surrounded by the loving care of his devoted wife, whose presence brought him comfort and light each day, along with the steady support and presence of his daughters and compassionate caregivers. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Abbington Senior Living, Canyon Home Health and Hospice and Ovation Sienna Hills for their love, comfort and support. Their devotion and care brought peace to Stan and his family. Special thanks to dear family, friends and loved ones for their visits, messages, unwavering love and support during this time.
