Alfonso Rodriguez, beloved father, passed away quietly in bed on Oct 7, 2020. He was 97 years old. He joins his wife, Maria Audelia Zapata Rodriguez, and three children Jose Alejandro, Joel Angelo, and Javier Armando in a happy reunion with our Father in Heaven. He is survived by his other six children Nannette, Ivonne, Julio Alfonso, Josue Aaron, Juan Alberto, and Nancy.
Alfonso was born in Monterrey, Mexico to Tibrucio Rodriguez and Eulalia Hernandez. At a young age, he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Being a member of the LDS Church was something he cherished his entire life. His passion for the LDS Church led to him to serve a successful 2 year mission in Mexico. After his mission, he left Mexico to attend Brigham Young University as a foreign student. After a few years of schooling, he went to Chihuahua, Mexico where he met his lovely wife, Maria Audelia. They got married and moved to Los Angeles, Ca. They were later sealed together in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1974.
In Ca, Alfonso and Maria gave birth to 9 children. Alfonso worked hard his whole life to support his large family. He found employment with Paramount Pictures as a set designer for many motion pictures. His continued passion for the LDS Church led to his being called to be a Bishop for the San Gabriel Ward for many years. He was also called to be member of the High Council in the East Los Angeles Stake. Alfonso was a leader and example to many church and community members.
“Always remember who you are and who your father is.”
In his retirement, Alfonso moved to Springville, UT to be with his children. He spent his retirement years as a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was always excited to see his children and grandchildren. His happiest moments where when he was together with his family. With so many children and grandchildren every family party was a small event.
Funeral services will he held at 10am, Oct 17 at the LDS Church House 950 S 1700 E, Springville, UT. Viewing will be from 9-10am same place and day.
A special Thank You to Salus Hospice for the care they provided my Dad the last few months.
