Barbara Joyce Pease

Mar 20, 1935 Jan 5, 2023

Our mother, friend, and hero Barbara Joyce Pease, age 87, passed away surrounded by her family January 5, 2023 in Sandy, Utah. She was born March 20, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to James and Ruby Thomas. She married Ernest Lavon Pease on March 28, 1958.

She loved music, sewing, board games, and going for a ride anywhere. Specifically, she enjoyed long rides with Ernest. They would go out for lunch at the Red Garter in Wendover – she would only gamble a nickel and won every time. She liked to act, doing crafts, and quilting. She was happiest when she was with Ernest and her children. Every one of her kids were her most favorite, until her grandkids showed up. She loved her family and grandchildren deeply. Barbara was a breast cancer survivor, having beat it twice. She had gone on the Breast Cancer Walks many times, bringing along her family.

How can you be sad about her passing when she is finally with the person she wanted to be with the most? We love you, mom.

Till we see you again, we miss you, we love you, always and forever in our hearts!

She is survived by her children Ernest Pease (Sandra Santos), Gary Pease, Sandra Scott (Michael), and Sheila Williams (Robert); 15 grandkids, 21 great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers James Thomas, Frank Thomas, and George Thomas; sister Norma Zimmerman, and daughter Sheri Cummings.

A viewing will be held January 17, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Cedar Breaks Ward, 5635 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, UT, with the funeral following from 11:00 – 12:00 PM. Interment to take place at 1:00 PM at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South 1700 West, Bluffdale, UT.
