Beckie Anne Rees

5/1/1959 ~ 12/16/2023

Beckie Anne Rees was born on May 1, 1959, in Spokane, Washington to Rose Nell and William Keith Rees. She passed away on December 16, 2023, with her family by her side.

Beckie married Johnny Hovat and had two wonderful children, John Keith and Jennifer Elizabeth. They later divorced but always had a love for one another.

Beckie was a remarkable, one-of-a-kind lady who would do anything to make anyone's day just a little bit brighter. She was so very artistic, she could re-create any picture just by looking at it and it would become a masterpiece by the time she was finished.

She was a devout catholic who knew her savior and lived her life striving to be a better person because of it. She enjoyed donating her time to serve at the Good Samaritan program at the Cathedral of the Madeline handing out sack lunches and clothing to the less fortunate.

She worked at Cummings Studio Chocolates for over 20 years and met some wonderful people there. She would make her beautiful chocolate Cinderella Shoes that had people swooning from all over to get their hands on one of her special creations.

Beckie absolutely loved her job at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She always greeted everyone with a huge smile and everyone knew her as “chatty Cathy,” even so much to have it listed on her name tag. She loved her work family and never thought of them as co-workers, they were family. We would like to thank all of the wonderful people Mom considered as family, she spoke so highly of each and every one of you and we thank you for loving her.

While mom was going through cancer treatment, she never complained once about anything. She would get up every single day and get ready for work with her cute scarf and bucket hat. She was always so put together. She would never leave the house looking disheveled… ever! She truly had a heart of solid gold and would do anything for the people she loved.

Beckie’s heart was shattered when she lost a part of her heart & soul, her daughter, Jenny in 2020. The loss created an enormous hole in her heart and she yearned for her.

She is also preceded in death by her father William, her mother Rose, her four brothers, Randy, Sandy, Ricky, her little bro Lanny, and her sissy Jackie. We’re certain it was a glorious reunion in heaven and was welcomed with open arms.

Beckie leaves behind another part of her heart and soul, her son, Johnny. She always said he was her pride and joy. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Jill Hovat; Grandsons; Ty Grant & Conner Keith Hovat and granddaughter; Madison Anne Hovat. Her brother Danny (Velia); sister Victoria; sister Mickie (Lee) and sister-in-law; Debbie Peterson Rees. She has many nieces and nephews, who she loved with her whole heart.

Our entire family is devastated as our hearts ache for her. We pray we will be watched over by our newest angel. Until we meet again on the other side of the veil.
