Billie Marlene Bryan Timmins Moyes
Our Loving Mother was called home on Sunday March 9, 2025, to be with her eternal mate of 68 years, Leon R. Moyes. Marlene and Leon lived in Ivans, Utah for the last 35 years and since Leon’s passing on June 15, 2019, has be residing with her oldest son in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Marlene was born in Banning, California on July 7, 1937 to Carolyne Reid Bryan Timmins and Lester Bryan and later adopted by her stepfather, Verl Timmins.
Marlene grew up in Southern California where she went to school at Whittier High School and later moved to the San Diego area where she attended La Jolla High School and eventually switched high schools to be with her love and future husband, Leon Moyes. Marlene and Leon were married on June 5th, 1957, in the Los Angeles LDS Temple and moved to Provo, Utah where they attended Brigham Young University and started their family of four boys, later to be known throughout the land as “The Moyes Boys”.
Marlene worked as an Administrative Assistant at UCSD Economics Dept., Northern Colorado English Dept. and the University of Utah Biology Dept. as they moved around the west while Leon worked on his Master’s Degree in Education. Leon later taught school for over 35 years and became a well-known athlete, baseball coach, referee and umpire. After Marlene retired from the University of Utah, Leon also retired and they sold their home in Salt Lake City and moved to St. George, Utah where they lived until Leon’s demise from a massive stroke. Both Leon and Marlene faithfully served many positions and church callings with the LDS Church.
Marlene and Leon are survived by their four sons, aka “The Moyes Boys”. Scott Leon Moyes and wife Lydia Anne Morgan-Moyes, Michael Verl Moyes and wife Regina Moyes, Thomas Allen Moyes and wife Patricia Moyes and Brent William Moyes. Marlene is also survived by her sisters Kitty Bryan, Karen Bryan King and brother Michael Bryan, as well as twenty-five grandchildren.
Marlene was preceded in death by her mother Carolyne Bryan Timmins, birth father Lester Bryan, stepfather Verl Timmins, sisters Charlene McCalister and Jerry Bourgeois.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday March 18th at the LDS Chapel located at 3120 West 4700 South, West Valley City, Utah. The viewing is from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM and services at 11:00 AM. Refreshments and Mom’s Tacos will be served in the cultural hall after the services. The burial will take place on Thursday March 20th at 11:00 AM at the Ivins, Utah Cemetery.
The Moyes Boys and Family would like to thank all those at Intermountain Hospice and Care Services for helping to take care and comfort to our beautiful and loving mother, and to all family members and others who stopped by to say, “hi” and reminisce with her. Even though she couldn’t remember you once you left, she truly enjoyed your visits and conversation.
