Cameron Paul Wernig

1978 – 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of our son, brother, father, and friend — Cameron Paul Wernig, who passed away in September 2025. Cameron was born July 30, 1978, in Payson, Utah, to Peggy Wilbur and Jerome R. Wernig Sr.

He grew up in Spanish Fork, attending local schools and graduating from Spanish Fork High. A naturally intelligent and bright mind, Cameron earned a full-ride scholarship to Utah Valley University. From an early age he loved sports. He enjoyed watching any sport but absolutely loved playing baseball and softball. In softball he was known for his strong arm, quick reflexes, and ability to hit for power. He was also very happy reading, doing anything in a canyon like riding a bike, hiking, or snowboarding. He enjoyed teeing-up for golf, art projects, and photography.

A lifelong car enthusiast — and enthusiast of anything on wheels — Cameron could talk cars with anyone. He began his career as a mechanic before moving into automotive sales, where he worked for Francom Motors, and Murdock automotive dealerships. Customers and coworkers appreciated his extensive knowledge, quick smile, and easy conversation.

In later years, Cameron bravely faced personal challenges that made life hard. Though those times occasionally brought distance, care and concern for his well-being never faded. We won't look at a ballpark or watch a sporting event or see a nice car without wishing we could share it with him.

His light and greatest joy were his children, Emma Madison and Nolan Mac. He was happiest spending time with them.

He is survived by his daughter Emma; son Nolan; parents Peggy Wilbur and Jerome R. Wernig Sr.; brother Jerome Jr. (Nichole); sisters Heidi (Jaron) Jensen; and Erin Russell. Also survived by step-siblings David Wilbur, Rachel (David) Sanda, Bekah Wilbur, Jodi (Jesse) Hicks, Ben Cloward, Kevin Cloward; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by Teena Cloward Wernig, James Byron Wilbur, Joe and JoAnn Richmond, and John and Stella Wernig.

A funeral service will be held November 1, 2025 at 11 AM, 99 N 920 W, Spanish Fork. Whenever Cameron is remembered, it will always be with warmth and love.
