Carl Jackson Brockbank

Oct 13, 1959 Mar 19, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Jackson Brockbank on March 19, 2025. He lived a life defined by a generous heart, deep sensitivity to the underdog, and kindness without boundary.

Carl attended East High School, where he was Senior Class President. He was beloved by his peers, admired for his leadership, and cherished for his unwavering kindness and integrity. He later attended the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated with a degree in business, further shaping his path and career. At the age of 19, Carl served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nagoya, Japan. His time there deeply influenced his character and instilled in him a lifelong love for service and the teachings of his faith. Carl went on to become a successful stockbroker, using his sharp business acumen and strong work ethic to build a meaningful career.

Carl's favorite place on earth was Lake Powell. He grew up hiking the canyons of Escalante and water-skiing on the glassy waters reflecting the towering red rock cliffs and endless blue sky. Summers on Cool Blue, the family houseboat, were filled with adventure, laughter, and exploration. Uncle Carl was always the captain, anchoring the boat down tightly each night, ensuring everyone was safe. The whole family, even the youngest children, hiked every slot canyon, creating unforgettable memories. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, from the national parks of Utah to the stunning landscapes of New Zealand.

Carl had a special love for dogs, especially his two Chihuahuas, Lily and Rufus. They were his loyal companions and brought him immense joy with their unwavering affection. He also deeply cherished his family, welcoming nephews and nieces to his home in San Diego, where they always felt loved and appreciated. Carl took immense pride in his historic home near Balboa Park. A true "fix-it-man," he was constantly working on restoration projects, preserving its beauty, and making it a warm, inviting space. His yard was another source of joy, where he carefully tended to his fruit trees and flowers, creating a peaceful and beautiful retreat.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Karen Wood. He is survived by his siblings, Paul Jackson Brockbank (Maridon), Eileen Tate (Monty), and Janice Blanchard, as well as his brother-in-law, Gordon Wood, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

We have learned many lessons from our dear brother—a generous heart, unwavering kindness, and the importance of understanding and accepting all people. We will greatly miss him until we meet again.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Le Jardin, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT 84092 from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
