Clifford William (Bill) Springer, 87, died July 7, 2024 at St. Marks Hospital in SLC, UT after a two week illness. A memorial service will be held at noon on July 26, 2024, at All Saints Episcopal Church; 1710 Foothill Drive, SLC, UT.

Bill was born June 15, 1937 to Clifford Howland and Maude Burton Springer in SLC, where he grew up in the lower Avenues. He graduated from West High and from the University of Utah, then in 1964, from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School. Bill served two years in the Army Dental Corps at Ft. Lewis, Washington before returning to SLC and assuming his father’s dental practice in the Boston Bldg. He soon moved his practice to a site on 10th East where he remained until retirement in December 2012.

Bill married Margaret (Meg) Sheppard McFadden in 1963 in the Post Chapel at Ft. Douglas, Utah. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, two sons - Charlie and Paul, five grandchildren - Caroline, Ashley, Veronica, Valerie, Robert, and one great-grandson - Nova, and a sister - Joan Marie Lloyd, and also nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clara Jean Pironi.

Bill took great pride in his dentistry, but especially loved talking to and getting to know his patients, which is what he missed most after retiring. He genuinely enjoyed hearing their stories. He liked to hike in the mountains of Utah, to take long drives in the car, and trailer-traveling with his family and dogs and cat. He was an avid history buff, especially Utah history and family history. A life-long Episcopalian, Bill was a faithful member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where he had served as junior warden.
