Connie Bailey Masias

Aug 26, 1930 Jul 23, 2024

Connie Bailey Masias or “Grandma” as most knew her peacefully passed away on July 23, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born August 26, 1930, in Moroni, Utah to Murray Shepard Bailey and Elverda Christenson Bailey. She grew up as the oldest of 10 children and spent her entire youth in Sanpete County until she decided it was time to move to the big city. Not too long after moving north to Salt Lake she met Frank Masias where they were married and spent the rest of their

lives together.

Grandma was a faithful member of the LDS church. Her biggest joy in this life was her family. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and a great grandmother. Not only did she raise her two daughters, but she and her husband Frank spent their golden years raising three of their grandchildren from an early age. She spent many hours nurturing their passions and hobbies. The sacrifices she and her

husband made changed many lives.

Grandma spent most of her career as a waitress at Dee’s Restaurant where she helped loyal customers and friends from sunrise for their morning breakfasts to their midday lunches. After over 35 years at Dee’s, she decided to hang up the apron. On the date of her retirement, she was not only the oldest Dee’s employee, but was the longest tenured restaurant employee working at the time. Not long after

retiring she got a little bored and decided to start a new work life as a greeter and customer service associate at the K-Mart right in the neighborhood where she lived.

When Grandma did decide to take some time for herself, she spent most of it crafting and creating. She was a seamstress. She spent a lot of time in front of an old antique Singer sewing machine. She quilted and built birdhouses. She even taught multiple grandchildren how to crochet. One of the most special items she spent time making were her Santa Clauses. She made dozens of them. Many families and

friends still have them displayed in their homes at Christmas time.

Grandma is survived by her daughters Sue Duke and Cindy Johnson. Her grandchildren Camron Duke Bills (Walt), Ben Duke (Amanda), Mckaylee Duke, Josh Lauritzen, Wendy Mahone (George), Tim Masias (Jasmine), Sheldon Masias (Michelle), Lisa Kerns (Blake), and Gage Johnson. Her sisters Leona Nichols, Sharon Baca, and her brother Paul Bailey. Grandma also had 22 Great Grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband Frank (Kiko) Masias, son in law Larry Duke, grandson Tom Duke and great granddaughter Ember Ruth Masias.

Grandma, we love you, we miss you, and want you to know that your impact in this life is immeasurable and will be felt for many generations.
