Hurricane, Utah — LeGrande Kleinman passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 93 from causes incident to age.
LeGrande was born June 5, 1932, to Dan Kleinman and Sylvia Kleinman in Toquerville. He married Cola Jeanne Bowler on June 30, 1956. Together they had eight children: Colette, Roland, Wade, Toni, Kelton, Rosalee, Lauralee, and Carlee (deceased).
LeGrande got his first horse at 10 years old, and his love of horses stayed with him throughout his life. He served in the Korean War as a Chief of Firing Battery officer. LeGrande never met a stranger—if you met him once, you had a friend for life. If you needed help, he was quietly there. He was known and loved for his storytelling. He had a story (mostly true) for everyone and every place he had ever been.
After years of hard work running heavy equipment, at the Iron Mines, running a dairy and serving as a custodian at Hurricane Elementary, he retired. That left him and Mom with countless hours to do what they loved most—riding and hiking. Mom enjoyed both. Dad, on the other hand, would say, “If God wanted man to hike, He would have given him four legs like a horse.” Together they explored nearly every canyon, wash, and mesa in Southern Utah.
LeGrande will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet service, his quick wit, and the way he made everyone feel like they mattered. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
A viewing will be held on March 28 at 9am with the funeral service to follow starting at 11am. Services located at the Heritage Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 1178 S 700 w, Hurricane, UT. LeGrande will be laid to rest at the Toquerville Cemetery.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude for the love, support, and kindness shown during this time.
