Daniel William Myrick

Feb 23, 1940 May 11, 2024

St. George – Daniel William Myrick was born 2/23/1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he passed on to his next big adventure on May 11, 2024, in St. George, Utah. Dan was the son of Norma Mary Kooyman and was raised by his mother Norma and stepfather Marcus Lee Myrick. Dad grew up in Murray, Utah. He loved his summers spent with his grandparents on their farm in Richfield, Utah. He joined the United States Army in 1956 and served honorably until 1959. Dan married Anita Louise White on June 17, 1960, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they had 5 children and raised them in Sandy, Utah. They were blessed to spend almost 64 years together.

Dan was a proud member of IBEW local 354 for 60+ years. His legacy can be seen throughout the state in many hospitals, educational, professional, and personal buildings. Dad built and enjoyed his cabin in Timberlakes, Utah. Many memories were made at “Daniel’s Den” with family and friends.

In his younger years, dad enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on VWs. He loved his “garage” time and tinkering with his projects. Dan and Anita retired to St. George, Utah in 2002. They enjoyed years of exploring in their RV together. Grandpa Dan enjoyed cheering on and supporting his grandchildren in their many activities. To his grandchildren, Dan was like a father figure, teaching them to work hard, be honest and fair and most importantly to check their oil! He will always be remembered for his “hunkey dorey” attitude and his horrible singing of “Happy Birthday”. We miss you dad, grandpa and great grandpa.

Dan is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anita and his 5 children, Dana Morgan, Craig Myrick (JoAnn), Tami Hirsch (Terry), Lisa Wright- Piazza (Chris) and Curt Myrick (Wendy), 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with another one due in October 2024. Dad is also survived by his brother Jimmy Myrick and 3 sisters, Norma Lee Scheering, Mary Whitaker and Lucille Coleman. Dad leaves behind his faithful furry companion, Meeka.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Norma and Marcus Lee Myrick and two brothers, Leonard Myrick and Marvin Myrick.

Services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E Dimple Dell Rd. Sandy, UT 84092) on June 17, 2024, which would have been his and Anita’s 64th wedding anniversary. A viewing will be held from 11:30-12:45 pm with a funeral service following at 1:00 pm. Dad will be buried next to his parents and in-laws in memorial estates with miliary honors.
