Danny Lee Drake

Danny Lee Drake, son, father, husband and friend, died May 20th, 2017 in Holladay, Utah from a series of infections and complications stemming from multiple sclerosis. He was born in Grinnell, Iowa to Donald Fred Drake and Lois Irene Fish, and was the oldest of 7 children. He joined the LDS church when he was 18 years old and served a mission in Paris, France one year after his baptism. He graduated from BYU in Mathematics and worked for First Security as a capacity planner. He married Linda Ann Nielsen June 4th, 1980 in the Salt Lake Temple and helped raise two children, David and Catherine. He was a devout genealogist and had a strong testimony that Jesus Christ is his Savior and Redeemer.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Ann Nielsen Drake; son, David Daniel Platt Drake (Brenda); daughter, Catherine Ann Bowman (Trent); his siblings: Daryl Drake (Iowa), Bob Drake (Colorado), Donna Kelly (Iowa), Roger Drake (Louisiana), Richard Drake (Iowa), and Carolyn Drake (Iowa); and many sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter 12th LDS Ward, 6745 West 3800 South, West Valley City, UT 84128. A viewing will be Wednesday evening from 6-8p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT 84107 and Thursday at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment: Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
