Dixie Lee Riding, 87 years, was called home to her heavenly father on April 16, 2025, joining her family that had passed on before her. Dixie was born on January 12, 1938, in Fountain Green, Utah, to Othello James Lund and Petrea Daniels.
Throughout her life, Dixie was a people person; she loved to interact with everyone. She could engage a complete stranger in conversation, and hours later, return home with a friendship that would last forever. She had a very warm heart. Dixie always had the time to listen to your problems, offering in return a shoulder to cry on, or a pinch of her own expert advice.
Mom grew up in Fountain Green, Utah. She was fortunate to live on a farm during the summer months, lucky to ride horses, and feed chickens, and be surrounded by animals, and then leave the ranch life behind, migrating into town during the school year. The schools Mom attended were in Fountain Green, Mt. Pleasant and Moroni, Utah.
In the 1980's, Dixie loved to go to Kolob Reservoir with her circle of friends, laughing, listening to music, dancing, and cooking barbecue under the beautiful Southern Utah sky. Growing up in a small town - as a country girl - Dixie understood the value of a hard day's work. For her career, she was an accomplished seamstress, utilizing her expertise at several manufacturing and textile companies across the St. George area. As the years passed, and her friendships and family continued to expand, she settled into the rhythms of retirement, discovering the magical world of Facebook along the way. Each day, Dixie watched as her army of grandchildren and great grandchildren zoomed off into the universe, romancing life and creating stories and tall tales of their own under the loving eye of their beloved grandmother. For all of us, as we age and mature and engage in moments of quiet reflection, the only thing that really matters is family. Dixie was no different. She loved her family with all of her heart.
Dixie loved her brothers and sisters Aunt Doris and Aunt Shirley, Uncles David, Jimmy and Kenneth. Regardless of the space between them, they all kept in contact, and longed for the times when they could all be together. Dixie loved when her brother, David, and his wife, Debbie, would drive down for one of their visits. They talked about the old times and the old ways. They cried for the people no longer with them. They laughed about all the stories surrounding their lives, and the utter nonsense of the world. Aunt Debbie and Uncle David would come here to watch Tuachan, share his turkey recipes and the latest cure-all from the internet. We can't forget their daughter, Heather Logan, who shared a special place in Mom's heart.
All in all, Dixie Riding led a good, loving, decent, honest and humble life. She was never one to complain, and her eternally positive attitude was a beacon of light we all reached for when the weight of the world was dragging us down. Mom loved her ward family. They always made sure she felt loved and was taken care of. Max and Diana served Mom as her Ministries, and she loved them very much. Diane was her guardian angel, remaining our family's emergency contact forever; we love and appreciate you all so much.
