Dolores Janet Quinn Hagen peacefully returned to her heavenly home the morning of April 7, 2025. She was born in Rupert, Idaho to Remola Hatton and Phillip Dean Quinn on August 24, 1946. She married Jerold Leslie Hagen on September 13, 1968 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. The sealing was done by Elder LeGrand Richards, a friend and Netherlands missionary president of Frank I. Kooyman, Jerold's grandfather. She was raised in Rupert, Idaho but spent the majority of her early years in Boise, Idaho. She attended Borah High School, from which she graduated and was loyal to all her life.
After high school she moved to North Ogden, Utah where she obtained work as a dental hygienist for Dr. Reed J. Mackley. She was working when a young man fresh off a mission to Austria for the LDS Church showed up for a dental appointment who focused all his attention on her. Jerry and Dolores would soon marry after meeting. Dolores always joked that she chose Friday the 13th as a wedding date, because she thought no one else would want that date, but soon found out "all of Utah" also got married that day.
Jerry and Dolores had 5 children; Curtis, Monica, Daniel, Susan, and Barbara. While living in St. George, Travis and Natasha joined the family through the Indian Student Placement Program.
Dolores, a loyal and faithful wife, followed her husband to: Salt Lake City and the University of Utah, Roosevelt, Utah, St. George, Utah, the West Indies, Detroit, Michigan, and eventually settling back down in St. George, Utah.
While in the West Indies on the Island of Montserrat, her husband had undertaken a medical course at the American University of the Caribbean in pursuit of a medical degree. Here she washed clothes in a tub on a scrub board not seeming to mind the competition with the tree frogs that showed up in the water. While on the island she not only homeschooled each of her children but also instilled a strong work ethic in each of them.
Dolores was always working. She worked wherever she was needed, whether it was in her husband's office, as a school cook, or in her own home. And it was done with a cheerful heart.
'Dee' as she was affectionately known by, was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in the relief society, primary, and nursery.
Family was her greatest joy. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her five children. She adored her 12 grandsons and one cherished granddaughter, and her presence in their lives was a constant source of warmth, guidance, and love.
Dolores found peace, passion, and took pride in the simple, meaningful things - knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, exploring her family history through genealogy, camping adventures, passing down the art of baking to her girls. She especially loved traveling and found great joy in giving gifts she made, always thinking about how she could brighten someone else's day.
She will remembered for her kindness, her thoughtfulness, and the quiet but powerful way she shaped the world around her - with love, care, and grace.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Curtis, Monica, Dan (April), Susan (Kyle), and Barbara (Brandon), 12 grandsons and one granddaughter; brothers, Spencer (Vickie) and Les Quinn, and one sister Marsha Lowe. She was preceded in death by her parents, a younger sister, Jolene, and brother-in-law Tom Lowe.
