Dolores Winder Spendlove

Mar 7, 1929 Mar 16, 2025

Hurricane, Utah - Our loving mother and grandmother, Dolores Winder Spendlove, 96, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was born March 7, 1929, in Springdale, Utah, to Daniel Winder and Myrtle Crawford Winder, the third child of nine. She married Linden K Spendlove on May 15, 1946, in the St. George Temple, who preceded her in death on July 30, 2003. Having an eternal family was very important to her. She wants her family to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love each one and the gospel is true.

She grew up in Springdale and also on a ranch on East Zion where her mother drove them to school to Orderville every day. While living in Springdale she corresponded with Linden while he was stationed in the Army during WWII. They eventually married. She was very determined and graduated from Hurricane High School a year after getting married. After marrying her PC, they lived in Springdale, Hatch, and settled in Virgin, Utah. She was involved in PTA and helping as room mother. She worked at Graff's Mercantile for several years, then in 1972, they moved to the same ranch on East Zion and Dolores had the great privilege of driving kids to school into Orderville on the same snowy road in the winter. It was hard for her, but she had the opportunity to teach many subjects for 19 years to the great students there. They loved her and she loved them.

Dolores was very talented. She will be known by many for her many talents in arts & crafts (all kinds), music, leadership, writing roadshows and her love and gift of teaching. She taught 4-H groups of all ages and subjects for at least 25 years and loved working with all ages. She loved the outdoors and nature which she shared with others. She loved the gospel and always wanted to be good. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, usually as the president or in the presidency. She loved service.

Dolores is survived by her children: Linden Karl Spendlove (Terrie Sanders), Daniel Bruce Spendlove (Melody Morgan), Gloria Gubler (Roger Gubler), Myrta Gubler (Evan Gubler), James Clark Spendlove (Julie Willis), LaRue Heaton (Alvin Heaton), and Susan Grace Cox (Marion Cox), 42 grandchildren and 118 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Thomas Winder from Nauvoo, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her husband and loving PC, Linden Spendlove, her parents, Dan and Myrtle Winder and seven siblings; Leonard Winder, Grace Wachlin, Doyle Winder, Dora Ingham, Paul Winder, Harlon Winder and Danelle Harris, grandsons Grant Clark Spendlove, Brandon Dean Heaton, John Ernest Spendlove, great-grandsons Ian Robert Spendlove and Kai Garold Workman, and a great-granddaughter, Angel Baird.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the North Chapel. 155 East 1050 North, Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:40 a.m. that morning. Following the service, interment will take place in the Hurricane Cemetery.
