Donald George Patey, age 97, passed away on January 30, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Donald was born on June 23, 1925, in Liverpool, England, to George Edward Patey and Ellen McWilliam. His mother passed away in August 1936, creating a special bond between the five young Patey children and their father that continued to deepen throughout their lives.

After serving in the British military during World War II, Donald immigrated to America, along with his father and three of his siblings. He became a proud citizen of the United States on November 19, 1953.

Donald married Laura Hansen on June 15, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. At the time of her death, they had been married 67 years. He held a deep love and admiration for her that will continue for all time and eternity.

Donald was a faithful member of the LDS Church. He loved everything relating to the outdoors and was an avid camper, fisherman, and hunter. He enjoyed watching television, most especially westerns, game shows, professional football, and soccer.

Donald is survived by his beloved children, Ellen, Gregory, Lauran, and Douglas, as well as 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.

A memorial service will be held February 6, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
