Sep 13, 1942 Dec 8, 2023

Our feisty, loving, spirited, sister and aunt, Dorthy Ann Carsey, passed away December 8, 2023 at the age of 81 in Kaysville, Utah.

Dorthy with one "O" was born on Sept 13, 1942 to Delbert Henry and Burlith Kartchner Carsey. She grew up in Salt Lake City and attended South High School.

While not much of a cook, Dorthy was proud of her chili making skills during the years she worked at Mannys on 21st South. After 25 years of service, Dorthy retired from the State of Utah, Department of Corrections. She was proud of her many years of service.

In 1993, Dorthys brother Keith told her if she quit smoking he would buy her a horse. She promptly quit and soon acquired her first horse, Cloud.

She lived in Bluffdale for many years. It was there she raised Appaloosa horses. Dorthy loved her horses! Dorthy, along with her dear friend Celeste, was a proud member of the Utah Appaloosa Horse Club. It was with the UAHC, she was able to ride her beloved horse Cloud, in many parades including the Days of 47 Parade all horse parade.

Dorthy's love for her dogs Boomer, and Cowboy, is beyond words to describe. They were her loyal companions and best friends. She loved her animals!

Dorthy loved her older sister, Judy, and always referred to her as "sister dear." She would say "I love you sister dear."

Dorthy loved Saturday trips to Scaddys for swedish pancakes and fish and chips. A flat can of Mountain Dew Code Red, salisbury steak and especially Kit Kat bars. She loved the colors red and purple, the Kansas City Chiefs, the University of Utah Utes and the Utah Jazz.

She loved going on cruises and was especially thrilled to sail through the Strait of Gibraltar where she could see the Rock of Gibraltar on one side of the ship and Africa on the other.

Dorthy is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Keith DeVon Carsey

She is survived by her sister Judy Scadlock, nephews, Wayne, Kent, Rick and Terry Scadlock. Niece, Kally Scadlock Heslop and numerous great and great great nephews and nieces.
