Douglas Warren Johnson 1931 ~ 2008 Douglas Warren Johnson, age 77, passed away early in the morning on Monday, December 22, 2008 after a long struggle with heart problems. He was born August 18, 1931, the oldest son of Byron Valentine Johnson and Blanch Alzina Shurtleff Johnson at St. Anthony Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. He attended schools in Pocatelllo, Idaho. He graduated with a Master of Science in Social Work in 1969 from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent most of his life working for the State of Utah as a licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Marriage and Family Therapist. In 1999, he married Alice (Irja) Carlson. They have lived in Orem since their wedding, but have spent much time in Finland, Alice's native country. Douglas loved to travel and loved vacationing at the family cabin in Island Park, Idaho, spending time with his family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions throughout his life. As a young man he served an LDS mission in the Canada Western States Mission. Douglas is preceded in death by his parents, Byron Valentine Johnson and Blanch Alzina Shurtleff. He is survived by his wife, Alice Carlson, his brother, Richard Johnson, and his sisters, Byra Lou Darrington and Virginia Rigby, and also his children, Douglas Yates, Kelly, Trisa, Kimball and Mark, along with many grandchildren. He was a great husband, brother, father, and grandfather and friend and will be missed greatly by his entire family and everyone that knew him.
