Eduardo Juan Carlos de Roda Amatria died during the early morning hours of December 4, 2025. He was born on March 27, 1948 in Madrid Spain, the son of Eduardo de Roda Mejias and María del Pilar Amatria Ruiz. He came to the United States in April, 1972 to marry Cindy Dow. He is survived by Cindy, his daughter Amanda de Roda (Jeremy Maxedon), Edward de Roda (Heidi Reese), grandsons Ethan Maxedon, Dylan de Roda, Miles Maxedon, granddaughter Adriana de Roda, sister Maria del Pilar de Roda Amatria and nine nieces and nephews.

He worked as an architectural draftsman for many years contributing to many significant projects including the Delta Center and the University of Utah Museum of Natural History. He also worked on projects for NASA in Houston,Texas. His favorite job was as a crossing guard at several Granite District schools.

He competed in many long and short distance races including the Beat the New Year Race in 1980 and subsequently achieved that goal for 31 more years. He was a lifelong supporter of Real Madrid football club and fiercely proud of Spain, the country of his birth and youth. Madrileño castizo, he never renounced his Spanish citizenship.

He was loved deeply, will be missed profoundly and remembered always by his family.

An open house celebration of his life will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Waterbury Club House 5760 S Waterbury Way, Murray, Utah.
