Loving Mom/Grandma
Eleanor Dorothy Johnson was born on July 10, 1938 in Montrose, CO to Edward Fresquez and Aurora Quintana. She passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021.
Eleanor was born and raised in Montrose, CO, she was the youngest of nine children and attended Montrose High School. At a young age she met the love of her life Bernie Cordova, they married in 1956 and had 4 boys together. In 1974 Bernie took his heavenly journey leaving her to raise the boys on her own. In 1982, she remarried Johnny Johnson, he later passed in 1983.
Eleanor worked at St. Mark’s Hospital in medical supplies, she then went to work for First Security Bank and was there for 25 years. After retirement from the bank, she kept herself busy with little part time jobs at the Salt Lake City Parking Enforcement and the Taylorsville Senior Center. She loved being able to work and keep busy.
One of Mom/Grandma’s passions in life was gardening, she always had the most beautiful flowers and took great pride in her yard. She loved watching her sons excel in sports and was their biggest fan. She enjoyed dollar movies at Valley Fair Mall and shopping with her grandson and granddaughters. Later in life she was able to babysit her great granddaughters and got so much joy from them. She was a great cook, we always looked forward to her Calito, Chile Verde and Bunellos.
Mom/Grandma has always been dedicated to her Catholic Faith which gave her strength to overcome the obstacles that were thrown her way in life. She taught us all that even when times are bad, God has a plan and will never give us more than we can handle.
