Emmett Randolph Dew III, Randy, was born and raised in the Palm Beach area of Florida. He was the only child of Emmett Randolph Dew Jr and Mary Louise Spitler. He attended college, served in the Army Reserve, worked for his Father as a bookkeeper's assistant, and spent a significant portion of his life caring for his parents, particularly his Mother. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, shortly after the passing of his Mother well over the age of 100. He was inspired to move from backpacking trips across the Western United States as a young man. Randy was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in January of 2016. He worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart for about seven years before finally retiring for good. He was gentle man, with much intelligence, who missed his parents terribly. He is now with them again. His ashes will be spread in his beloved Wasatch mountains in a private ceremony.
