Frank Masafumi Takahashi passed away peacefully at his home of 57 years on July 31, 2026, just 6 weeks shy of turning 103. He was born on September 10, 1923, in Clifton, Idaho, to Isami (Charley) and Shigeno Hayashi Takahashi. Just before turning one, his family moved to Young Ward, Utah, where he was raised and considered his hometown. Frank graduated from South Cache High School.

After graduation, during World War II, Frank was drafted into the US Army, attended basic training in Texas, and was then stationed at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. After serving for a short period of time, his father was injured in a farming accident. Since Frank was the only son, he was honorably discharged so he could return home to take care of the farm. Through these experiences, he learned lifelong skills of hard work and developed his work ethic and dedication to service, which he exemplified throughout his life.

On March 1, 1952, Frank married Kikue Aoki in Honeyville, Utah. They resided in Tremonton and Willard until 1957, when they settled in Uintah, Utah, and have resided ever since. Upon settling in Uintah through the late 1970s, Frank managed the R.J. Wight turkey farm. After the turkey farm, he worked at Mount Ogden Feed Mill before becoming a preventative maintenance worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He took great pride in keeping the church grounds both inside and outside immaculate, retiring in 1996.

Frank was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was also a member of the Utah Fancy Poultry Club, where he served as Secretary for several decades. His hobby of raising show-quality chickens led Frank and Kik to travel throughout the western states to various Chicken Shows and State Fairs, where they received many awards. He also served as Poultry Supervisor at the Utah State Fair and Weber County Fair for many years.

Frank took great pride in his beautiful yard and garden and generously shared his harvest with others. For over 50 years, including on his 98th birthday, Frank worked tirelessly, beginning in October each year, to set up outdoor Christmas lights and decorations for everyone’s enjoyment.

His children survive Frank: Gary (Colette) Takahashi, Mitzie (Dennis) Yamashita, and Janet Takahashi; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kikue; parents; sister, Mae Takahashi; and grandson, Frank T. Yamashita.

Friends may visit with family at a viewing on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, Utah. An additional viewing will be on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Uintah LDS Church, 6660 S. 1775 E., Uintah, Utah, followed by the funeral service at 11 am—interment at Uintah City Cemetery with military honors.
