Franklin David Robinson, our cherished husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at his Fillmore, Utah, home.
Dad was born in a little log cabin in Fillmore, Utah, on January 5, 1937, to Joshua and Mary Robinson. He was the 7th of 10 children. In his high school years, he played and lettered in football and wrestling. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon Lee Stoney in the Manti Utah temple on September 7th, 1955. They soon welcomed six children to their family. As their family grew, they often spent time together camping and boating. On those camping trips, Dad would take the grandchildren on walks through nature, learning about plants, animals, and especially what a bear print looked like. Dad's family brought great joy and happiness to him. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren tremendously and loved seeing them share their talents and achievements.
As a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints member, Dad had an unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and held many callings throughout his lifetime. He loved church history and was an avid reader of all things church related.
Dad was a contractor who built many homes in the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding communities. He loved working with wood and sharing his talent with others. We all have treasured items that he built for us: birdhouses, benches, pencil football stadiums, doll houses, girls' dish cupboards, and even furniture.
David is survived by his wife, Jeri Peterson Robinson; his children Kerry (Don) Crowther, Scott (Cindy) Robinson, Bonnie Sherrell, Sandy (Gordon) Hatt, and James (Jennie) Robinson; his stepson Steven (Christy) Peterson; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ireta Shurtz.
Dad is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, son Tim, parents Joshua and Mary, eight brothers and sisters, and his daughter-in-law Jill (wife of James).
Our family would like to thank all those who have helped care for him over the past several weeks. We would also like to give Jeri a big thank you for being a great and loving companion to our dad for the past 10 years.
Memorial Services will be held on Dec. 2, 2024, at the Fillmore 2nd Ward Church house located at 25 S 300 W, Fillmore, UT. A viewing will be held on Dec. 2, from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM, before the memorial services, which will start at 1:00 PM.
Pansy
The pansy sits under my tree.
And looks me in the eye, when I pass by.
The thought is given, we are part of heaven.
The plant, the flower and I.
