Gary graduated from Dixie High School and received a degree in Speech and Dramatic Arts from Dixie College. At Dixie High, he was voted Junior Prince Charming, and at Dixie College, he participated in the Program Bureau.

Gary went on to serve in the Army during the Vietnam era. He was stationed in Germany for several years. While there, he became fluent in the German language.

He married Janean Gines on March 20, 1970, and had six children: Steven, Lonni, Tonia, Tamera, Jeffery, and Scott. He later married Shaun Roueche on April 21, 1989. Together, they were sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple and raised three sons: Spencer, Aaron, and Robert. Gary had twenty-two grandchildren.

Gary was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He lived a life of service in various positions, including Young Men’s presidencies, Bishoprics, and more.

Gary worked passionately as a computer programmer for over forty years. In his business and in his personal life, he was respected as a man of service and integrity. He kept a home office so he could work while staying close to his family.

In his free time, he enjoyed baking bread, singing, watching movies, and reading books. He also enjoyed making people laugh and was well known for his quick wit.
