Glen LeRoy Slight

Mar 26, 1927 Mar 22, 2026

Hallelujah! I, Glen LeRoy Slight, today, March 22, 2026, graduated from the “University of Life on Earth” just four days prior to my 99th birthday. Let the flags wave. Balloons fly. Face it. It is a joyful time. No sadness. Maybe I will be missed by some, but for me, graduation is the treasure at the end of life’s journey.

The love of my life, Marian, graduated before me. I have missed her deeply for the past nearly six years. I can’t wait to wrap my arms around she who made my life worthwhile and whisper in her ear, “Good morning, gorgeous!”

We had five wonderful children. Kari Burton (Kevin), Julie (who graduated after only a few hours with us), Jill Cloud (Richard), Marshall Slight (Kory), and Mark Slight (Debbie). Additionally, we were blessed with 17 grandchildren and 31 (almost 32) great grandchildren.

My parents, Frank Raymond Slight, and Helen Grover Slight, along with my brother, Raymond, and sister, Gayle Moreau, graduated years ago.

I could ramble on about the many chapters of my life’s book, like the thousands of students I taught at Reno High, Highland High, Lincoln Junior High, and Olympus High. I loved each student as if they were a part of my second family. I also loved the countless number of friends I associated with during the theater chapter of my life.

I was blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. I was very fortunate to have served a mission to Uruguay as a 19-year-old young man. Then, with Marian, served missions in Peru, New Zealand, and in Nauvoo. Serving as bishop of the Cottonwood 6th ward, as well as a temple worker and sealer in the Salt Lake and Jordan River temples were life-changing service opportunities.

For the rest of you, hang in there knowing how each of you are dear to us until your graduation comes!

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff at Silverado, Sunrise Senior Living at Holladay, Aspire Hospice, and to the leadership of the Holladay 7th branch for their compassion, kindness, and tender care provided to our dad.

Our dad did not want a funeral. Instead, he requested a party, which will be on March 28, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, at the LDS chapel at 1750 East Spring Lane, Holladay, Utah. A family graveside service will be held.
