He enjoyed camping, swimming, golfing, skiing, biking, and fly fishing. In his younger years he was a competitive swimmer and an Eagle Scout. Greg was an avid reader his entire life, covering many subjects and interests, such as history, the natural world, and Native American culture.

He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi with a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Utah in 1970. Greg then attended medical school at Temple University, graduating in 1974. Greg shifted his focus to neurology with a residency at the University of Utah from 1981-84 followed by a fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from 1985-86 to study stroke. He returned to Salt Lake and worked as a neurologist at the University of Utah from 1986 to 2000. Greg loved teaching and taught residents at the University of Utah during his years there. For 14 years Greg worked in private practice and at Intermountain Health Care until he retired in 2014. He continued to work as a consultant at LDS and Promise Hospitals until just before his passing.

Greg was married to Linda Budd for 21 years, from 1976 to 1997.

Greg is preceded in death by his father Dee William Call, and brother Scott Jones Call.
