Howard Paul Ballif

Jan 14, 1964 Sep 1, 2025

Howard Paul Ballif passed away unexpectedly in early September 2025 in Arizona, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and a heart full of love for family and friends.

Born on January 14, 1964, in Boise, Idaho, to Howard Barr and Rowena D. Ballif, Howard was the eldest of eight children and a natural leader among his siblings. Growing up, he guided his younger brothers and sister with care, always ready with a joke, and a helping hand. His energy and love of sports shone brightly during his years at Alta High School, where he graduated and proudly played football.

Howard is survived by his siblings: James Ballif, David (Jacque) Ballif, Anthony Ballif, Robert (Aimee) Ballif,

Nathan Ballif, and Alecia Ballif. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Ballif, with whom he now shares eternal peace.

Howard was the 14th grandchild of Roland and Lois Davidson, and the first grandchild of Howard M. and

Madge Ballif—a distinction he cherished. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California, where he developed a deep fondness for the people and the sunny weather.

After attending the University of Utah, Howard achieved one of his greatest dreams: becoming a pilot for Icon Health and Fitness. He found true joy in flying high in the sky in a G-6, often saying he was happiest when he was above the clouds.

Howard was married twice, and through his second marriage, he became a devoted stepfather—a role

he embraced with love and was deeply proud of. His compassion extended to everyone he loved,

including his nieces and nephews, and he treasured every family gathering.

Howard had a lifelong affection for animals—especially dogs—and possessed a special gift for training and caring for them. In his later years, Howard made his home in Arizona, where he treasured the warm sunshine and spent countless hours on the golf course.

He will be remembered for his warm spirit, uplifting humor, and the kind of hugs that made you feel truly seen and loved. His laughter brought light wherever he went, and his genuine goodness touched countless lives.

A celebration of Howard’s life will be held on October 27th from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at the LDS ward building located at 9119 S. 1300 E., Sandy, Utah 84093. All who knew and loved him are warmly invited to attend and share a fun or meaningful story of Howard.

In place of flowers, contributions via Venmo: @Robert-Ballif to support expenses are greatly

appreciated.

"Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near—still

loved, still missed, and always dear."

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:21
