Jack Lee English, devoted husband, loving father, caring friend and a hero to many, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 in Sandy, Utah at the age of 96. Jack was born in Pasadena, California on May 15, 1925 to Cecil Edward English and Florence Coyne. He went to Annapolis Naval Academy where he graduated in June 1949. Soon after, he married the girl of his dreams, Carolyn Marie Mueller on August 26, 1950. After serving in the United States Navy, he worked for Mutual of New York Insurance and reared his family of four children in Maplewood, New Jersey. Being the patriot that he was, he continued serving those in the military in his later years by helping to prepare and send care packages to active-duty service men and women overseas. He loved the Navy and there wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t talk about it.
Jack filled his life with love, hard work, dedication, service and sacrifice for his fellowman, for his God, for his country, and for his family. He cherished fulfilling his civic duty as a Republican Party delegate and loved touching the lives of the younger generation while substitute teaching at Millburn High school in New Jersey. If you knew Jack, you knew his smile, his contagious laugh, his ability to tell a good story and speak at a moment’s notice. Animals were always affectionately at the forefront of his thoughts-especially his dogs. “Ginger” kept him young during the last decade.
Jack’s legacy lives on in his four children Wendy Christine Peterson (John), Carl Arthur English (Rebecca), Richard Scott English (Maralyn), Lori-Lee Neuberger (Todd); his 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
A family graveside service will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 1:00 PM.
