Jack Garbett, 97, of Washington, Utah, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026.

Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was centered around family, faith, music, and service. He is survived by his four children: Scott (Judy) Garbett of Washington, Utah; Brent (Dianna) Garbett of Olivehurst, California; Sherri (Chris) Lopez of Waterford, California; and Vicki (Richard) Cooper of Clarkston, Washington. He is also survived by his brother, Mick Garbett of Evanston, Wyoming, two brother and sisters - in law, and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Beverly; his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home to Utah, he enrolled at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met Beverly Wiseman of Castro Valley, California—the love of his life. They married in 1955 and began a life together in California filled with family, faith, music, and love.

Music, the performing arts, and gardening were important parts of Jack’s life. As a young man, he played drums in his middle-school marching band and played guitar for most of his life. During his early married years, he was a member of a musical quartet that performed throughout the Bay Area of California. He also enjoyed writing music and composed several songs of his own. Throughout his life, Jack participated in drama and musicals, continuing to share his talents well into adulthood.

Jack was also known for his green thumb, especially his love of vegetable gardening and ferns. He was continually transplanting and tending to his plants and generously sharing them with others. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.

Jack’s love of music became a treasured family tradition. He passed his musical talents and appreciation on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom continue to share his love of music. His creativity and passion for the performing arts became part of the legacy he left for generations to come.

Jack’s faith was another deeply important part of his life. He held his beliefs sacred and carried them with him throughout his life, allowing his faith to guide and strengthen him through the years.

Together, Jack and Beverly built a beautiful family that grew to include four children, 21 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. His family was one of his greatest sources of joy and became one of his most enduring legacies.

Jack will be remembered for his deep love of family, his faith, and his musical talents.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the North Ridge Ward Chapel, 1080 W Arlington St., Washington, Utah. Funeral service will follow starting at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Fair Oaks Cemetery in Fair Oaks, California on September 11.
