James Martinsen

Oct 9, 1940 Feb 18, 2023

A humble servant of the Lord slipped quietly away in the wee, small hours of Saturday Morning, February 18, 2023. James Martinson, a quiet, shy man who’s whole life emulated the Lord in his compassion and caring for his fellow man. He was born on a farm in Idaho where he served his family by helping his father work the farm till he was old enough to join the United States Air Force. He served his country for over twenty years in places like Alaska, Italy, Japan and again in Idaho. In all the places he served he blessed so many with his quiet compassion and caring spirit. He loved The Savior. James and his beloved Bonnie Ellen were married in the Idaho Falls Temple and raised nine children together. They were his true treasures and he dedicated his whole life in raising them up unto the Lord. Being a Respiratory Therapist expanded his opportunity to serve others. Not only did he touch people’s lives with blessings from the Lord, his quiet and gentle concern for their care strengthened so many in their times of need. James loved music. He was blessed with a rich voice and was often called upon to touch the hearts of many who heard him sing. “Sunrise…Sunset. Swiftly flew [his] days” as he and Bonnie served missions in Cyprus and the Philippines. They also served in the Lord’s Holy Temple doing work for his kindred dead. James was a noble knight that served so many already passed beyond the veil including, his precious Bonnie Ellen. REJOICE with us in his passing for he is once again united with the Love of his life to serve new missions for His Lord. What a noble, caring, compassionate servant! Farewell dear friend.
