Janae Crawford Wootton died in her apartment on Tuesday, 28 June 2022 at the age of 71. She was born on 26 October 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Buford and Adelia Luane Pierce Crawford. We can only imagine the excitement around the Crawford home when they finally welcomed a girl into the family after having 3 boys. Fathers are especially fond of their little girls and dad loved her to the extreme.
Janae was an endowed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint and grew up in South Salt Lake City, Utah and attended the Burton Ward. She served in many callings over the years.
She attended Madison Elementary, Central Junior High, and graduated from Granite High School Class of 1969. She participated in school drama club, orchestra, and Future Business Leaders of America. After high school, she pursued a college education in physical education. She received an Associates in Science Degree from the College of Eastern Utah. While at CEU, she served on the Collegiate Council.
Janae had the opportunity to go to Taiwan and be with her mom and dad while he worked for the US Army there. She was the only one of their children who got to go.
On 3 June 1976 she married John Wootton and they had 3 daughters, Tara, Tonya, and Teresa. She adopted John’s son, Jon. They divorced after 24 years of marriage and she never remarried. She held on to and loved Jon Junior and his family to the end.
Janae loved sewing, crafting, genealogy, sports, and bowled on some leagues with Barry, Kent, and Shirley. But most of all, she loved her family and loved spending time with her grandkids.
Janae was employed by American Express for about 20 years. Her latest jobs were working for schools helping the children, teachers, and administrators.
She had an outgoing personality and made many friends along the way. She kept in touch with extended family and loved attending the Mott Reunion each year. Janae was a compassionate person and would help anyone that needed help. One time she went back East to New Jersey and spent time with her cousin, Verjean, who needed some help with chores because of her health. She loved spending time with the Busath’s in New Jersey.
Janae is survived by her oldest brother Kent (Shirley) Crawford, children Jon (Jeanie) Wootton, Tara (David) Thomas, Teresa (Chad) Warrant, and Tonya (Billy) Klaas and all her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above, brothers and sisters-in-law, Narvil Jay, Val Dean (Shirlee Ann), and Barry Lamont (Joanne).
