Our beloved mother and grandmother, Jane Strong Kimball, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 14, 2025 in Millcreek, Utah. Jane was born Sep 19, 1924, in Kaysville, Utah to Josie Ware and Harry Lyle Strong. Jane is survived by her sons Patrick (Joro) and Michael (Kari) grandchildren Daji, Aedan and Liam, who all love her dearly.
Jane grew up in Kaysville, graduated from Davis High School, and took a job packing medical supplies at Hill Army Air Base during World War II, where she met her husband, a young 2nd lieutenant named Kent Kimball. Jane and Kent married on Dec. 24, 1943, and together they embarked on an adventurous 20-year military career, which took them to many places around the world, including London, Roswell, New Mexico, Colorado, the Aleutian Islands, Texas, Massachusetts, South Dakota, and finally, Washington DC, where Kent finished his military career as a lieutenant colonel serving in the Pentagon.
Jane attended Utah State University and the University of Utah. When Kent started a new career as professor of Political Science at the University of Utah, she focused her energies and love on her family, raising her two sons. A passionate animal lover, Jane made sure the home was always full of cats and a few other critters. Jane tended her beautiful garden well into her nineties. She was an avid hockey fan, following the Salt Lake Golden Eagles during the ‘70s and ‘80s and the Utah Hockey Club this past year. Rebellious, fiercely independent and strong in spirit, Jane followed her own path in the world, and lived in the family home in Millcreek Utah until shortly after her 100th birthday.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Highland Cove Assisted Living and Quality Hospice for helping provide safety, comfort, and loving care during her final months. Per Jane’s request, a funeral service will not be held. To honor her memory, the family asks that instead of flowers, donations be given to the Humane Society of Utah.
