Janna Dee Dove (66) passed peacefully in her sleep on March 20th 2022.
Janna was born November 16th 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Norman D Shelton and Anna Mae Wycherly.
She overcame many health issues during her life, including HIV, hepatitis C and breast cancer before the onset of liver complications proved too much.
Last Year marked her 34th year sober, each year a milestone of which she was very proud and a community whom she loved dearly. She sponsored many people and touched the lives of all who knew her in AA. This was truly her second family... "one day at a time."
As an AIDS survivor she found help and comfort at The Ryan White Foundation and became a spokesperson educating many who didn't understand the disease. She represented the state of Utah on 'World Aids Day' many times.
In 1985 Janna turned a new leaf and put behind everything that was wrong with her life but it wasn't until 2009 that she received her full and unconditional pardon from the state of Utah. An achievement which was hard fought and thoroughly deserved. There is a whole story here but, as Janna would say, "Wait for the movie!"
Janna's favorite pastime was playing video games with her online community who she lovingly called her third family. Shout out to the Elder Scrolls Online peeps!
Janna is survived by her Mother, children Dan George (Melissa), Richard George (Nickole), Ben George (Laurie), siblings Steve Shelton and Suzanne MacGregor (Rory), 18 grand kids and 2 Great grandkids. Extended family: 2 daughter in-laws Julez Lindley & Kristy Weaver, 2 Nephews ( Jason & Skyler Parkin ) & their families, her favorite Aunt Betty, as well as numerous cousins.
Preceded in death by her father and the love of her life, Kenny Dove.
