SYRACUSE. Jayna Kay Rice, age 66 formerly of Clinton, passed away the morning of Sunday, June 9, 2019 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 16, 1952 to O. William Bryan and Ruth Wardle in Ogden Utah. Jayna was a graduate of Ben Lomond High School and attended Weber State University.
Jayna was a fantastic friend, mother and grandmother whose art and creativity inspired so many around her. Her love of art was expressed through photography, painting of all kinds, jewelry making, quilting, home decorating, and appreciation of antiques.
Jayna married Michael K. Rice in the Ogden Utah temple on March 2, 1973. Jayna and Michael had 4 mediocre children most of whom are bald. While she didn’t pass along great hair genes her sense of humor was one of a kind.
For many years she worked for Davis County School District in a variety of capacities and cultivated many deep lasting friendships. She embraced life and had a great love of the world around her.
Her grandkids are better than yours, being the smartest, cutest, most kind hearted, special, and lovable in the whole wide world.
Mom loved the Savior and demonstrated her love by the way she lived and cared for others. The greatest gift she gave her children was teaching them right from wrong and how to love the Savior by the way one lives their life. We thank you mom for this wonderful gift. We love you.
Jayna is preceded in death by her husband Michael K. Rice and her parents Bill and Ruth Bryan. She is survived by her children: Wendy, Jared (Carrie), David (Shaury), and Matthew (Amber); eleven grandchildren whom she loved very much: Jonah, Ezra, Hazel, Saul, Weston, Lacie, Georgia, Maggie, Jack, William, and Lincoln.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Provident Funeral Home located at 3800 S. Washington Blvd, Ogden Utah. An additional viewing will be held for close family and friends on Thursday, June 13 from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to 11am funeral services located at the 2500 S Bluff Rd, Syracuse Utah Chapel. Interment will be at the Uintah Town Cemetery.
The Rice family would like to express thanks for the tender help and care given by Encompass Health and all the wonderful family and friends who gave of their love and their time to help mom be comfortable during the last few months of her life.
