It is with a mixture of sorrow and profound gratitude that we mark the passing of Jerome Walker, who transitioned to eternal peace on approximately January 4th, 2026. Known in his youth by the name Jerry Hinckley. Jerome led a singular life defined by an exuberant spirit, boundless creativity, and an unyielding will.

Born the youngest child to Mildred Lewis Hinckley, on May 4th, 1941, Jerome grew up in the familiar surroundings of Provo, Utah. He shared his early life with his three siblings: Claude Chad Hinckley, Michael Lewis Hinckley, and Patricia Hinckley White Newell.

Jerome briefly served his country in the U.S. military, an experience that added another dimension to his rich tapestry of life. However, his true calling lay in the world of artistic expression and adventure. His was a life filled with an appreciation for fine art, personal style, and the thrill of discovery.

While residing in the vibrant San Francisco area, he was married to Carol, a period of his life richly documented in countless photographs that capture the many joyous and unforgettable moments they shared. Jerome possessed a rare, multifaceted talent, expressing himself as a painter, a seamstress, and a performer. His intellectual curiosity was insatiable; he was an avid reader and, over the years, amassed an impressive collection of books that served as a testament to his wide-ranging interests and thirst for knowledge.

His playful personality and impressive physique once led to a memorable performance as Mother Ginger in a production of the Nutcracker Ballet—a role he embodied with characteristic flair. Tragically, a swimming accident resulted in partial paralysis of his legs, a challenge he faced with remarkable perseverance for many years.

Throughout this period, he maintained an especially close and cherished relationship with his niece, Rebecca, the daughter of his sister Patti. Rebecca’s dedicated care and companionship provided immense comfort and support for several years, a bond for which the family remains eternally grateful.

As a family, we treasure Jerome’s efforts in documenting our shared history. We look to his example of living life on one's own terms—with unwavering passion, creativity, and incredible perseverance—as a source of enduring inspiration and profound adoration.
