Jessica "Gooch" Ann Ungerer (Leaver)

Feb 2, 1972 Oct 9, 2025

Our beautiful, vivacious, and funny friend, sister, aunt, and mother, Jessica (affectionately known as Gooch), passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 9, 2025.

Her vibrant personality, sharp sense of humor, and caring soul will be remembered forever.

Jessica Ann Ungerer (Leaver) was born on February 2, 1972, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kathy Ungerer and Andy Conti. She was raised in Magna, Utah, by her mother, Ava Ungerer, and grew up surrounded by her loving older siblings: Harold, Susan, Fred, Tom, Richard, and Geri. Then later her (neices Brittany and Natasha).

She attended Cyprus and Central High Schools, where she made friends with everyone she met. Jessica had a love for travel and adventure. In her younger years, she moved to Florida to work as a nanny and caregiver before returning to Utah to settle down. Over the years, she held several jobs, but her favorite was working as a benefits coordinator at the Salt Lake Tribune.

Jessica later married Mike Leaver, and her family grew to include his children—Skylar, Cody, Miranda, and Kye. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Payton, who became the light of Jessica’s life.

She was a loyal friend with a heart of gold. Her quick wit and unique sense of humor could brighten any room. Jessica always knew just what to say to lift your spirits and make you laugh, even during tough times.

She loved dancing, quoting movies watching horror / comedy, in particular The Simpsons! She also was very creative when swearing.

She loved listening to music, and expressing herself through fashion. A talented artist and designer, Jessica often created beautiful pieces using her boundless imagination.

Above all, Jessica cherished being a mother to her daughter, Payton. Her love and pride for her were immeasurable.

We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her mother, sister, and many beloved family members and friends.

Jessica touched countless lives with her joy and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
