John Cruz

Dec 8, 1938 Aug 16, 2022

John Cruz returned home to our Heavenly Father on August 16, 2022 he was born on December 08, 1938. John was 83 years old, some knew him as a hard worker retiring from Kennecott Mining and other knew him as a fighter, beating cancer several times.

John had an adventurous life here on earth. You could always find him riding his bike through the Jordan River Trail, and the Salt Lake Valley. John loved to travel to Alaska to go fishing and moose hunting. He was an avid cyclist, hunter, fisherman and craftsman. On his spare time, you could catch him at the poolhall where he would master his skills. He enjoyed taking the fun bus to Wendover and eating at the buffet. When John was not outside in nature you could find him serving Heavenly Father at the Salt Lake City Temple.

While here on earth John is survived by sister-Vera and brother-Santos and his children Rosalie (Lorenzo)Torres, Juan Cruz, Gloria Butler, Cynthia Hollenbeck, Jodi (Ron) Kranendonk and Paul (Carmen) Cruz. His twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-nine great grandchildren. He also has a large extended family throughout Salt Lake City, UT and El Paso, TX, and his faithful companion Dog (yes, that is his name)
