John Larry Roberts of St. George, Utah, tragically passed away on May 30, 2025, following a sudden accident while at home.
John was born on April 14, 1947, in Milford, Utah, to Stanley C. Roberts and Ione Fisher Roberts. He married the love of his life, Anna Rae Cooper, on August 20, 1966. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Together, John and Ann raised three sons: Travis (Mary Ann) Roberts, Matthew Roberts, and Tyler (Valerie) Roberts. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to five grandchildren: Elle (Dres) Empey, Ryan, Taylor, Jordan, and Brooklyn. John's family was the center of his world, and he found his greatest joy in their successes and in spending time with them.
After graduating from Milford High School in 1965, John attended the University of Utah, where he earned a degree in Health, Physical Education & Recreation. He loved the Utes and remained a devoted Ute throughout his life. He soon enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably during the Vietnam War as an Operating Room Technician. He was released from active duty in August 1974 and continued his service in the Naval Reserve until 1976.
While serving in the reserves, John worked for 3M as a Surgical Products Marketing & Sales Representative. In 1976, he transitioned to the insurance industry, joining Allstate and later moving to the Leavitt Group in 1981, where he worked for over 30 years. He earned a reputation for integrity, professionalism, and excellence in all he did.
A devoted husband, John lovingly cared for Ann as her health has declined over the last several years, showing constant compassion and strength. He was a steadfast supporter of his sons and grandchildren-rarely missing a game, match, or important moment. Whether it was Travis and Matt's church missions or Tyler's tennis matches, John was always involved, cheering from the sidelines and offering a post-game hug or encouraging phone call. His limitless capacity for love and support for his family was evidenced not only in the big moments but in the millions of small ones. To his beloved family he was a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness and hard work, and a hero.
John lived a life of quiet strength, humility, dedication and exemplified selflessness. He truly embodied integrity and character. His actions, rather than words, seem to have spoken the loudest, leaving a lasting impact on each of us. The fact that he led by example and valued doing things the right way shows a deep respect for quality and responsibility, both in his work and in personal life. He was a man who thought before he spoke, always led by example, and took pride in doing things the right way-from his professional achievements to the immaculate care of his home and yard.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and found joy in his many callings and opportunities to serve others. John's life was a testimony of faith, service, organization, and unwavering love for his family and country.
