John R Benson was born April 3, 1946 to Neal and Lydia Benson. He was raised in Newton Utah. He died on May 30, 2026.

John spent his childhood in Cache Valley with his five brothers and sisters. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico. He served his country in the Army and the National Guard. He spent time living in Nevada, Maryland, and Virginia. His final years were spent in the Ogden Utah area.

John is survived by his four children: Gregg (Cynthia), Tami (Todd), Michelle (Jeff), and Shauna (Ryan), and thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, many of his great-aunts & uncles, and one granddaughter.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the Evergreen Park Ward, 300 Gramercy Ave, Ogden, UT 84404 from 6-8pm. A funeral service will take place Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11 am at the same location, with a viewing held prior from 9-10:30am. The interment will be held at Newton Cemetery at 2pm.
