Jon Meyers Durrant, age 74, passed away on February 15, 2022, with family and friends by his side.
Jon was born on July 25, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Warren and Janice (Meyers) Durrant. He was the third of seven children. In his early twenties, he started driving truck. He loved being on the road and seeing the sights. It was his happy place.
In 1993, Jon fell off a trailer and broke his neck. He was in a halo for three months, then a collar for another three months, but that didn’t keep him down. He recovered and went back to driving. He was a hard worker and very mechanically skilled. He would buy cars, trucks, and equipment, fix them up, and then sell them for a profit. He loved to ‘wheel and deal’ and enjoyed making extra money that way.
He loved a good joke and was a teaser like his dad. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was always happy and a fiercely loyal friend to many. He had a good heart and was always willing to help others.
Jon is survived by his siblings: Tom (Sherry) Durrant, Linda Durrant, Steven Durrant, David (Fely)Durrant, and Michael (Maralyn) Durrant, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Paula McKissick.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the LDS Church located at 92 South 200 West, in Wales, Utah. A viewing will be held from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment at Wales Cemetery.
Jon suffered from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) as a result of 50+ years of smoking. Jon encouraged people to quit smoking so they can live longer, healthier lives.
