Joseph Anand Hood, 38, passed away on September 30th, 2024. He was born in Goa, India on August 7th, 1986. His birth mother wanted a better life for him so he was adopted by loving parents in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joe (He preferred to be called Joe) was an artist in life. He taught himself how to play guitar, and composed music. He wrote lyrics and sang along with his guitar. Later on he wrote and published three novels that were nominated for an award in the suspense category. He studied at The University of Utah, and Salt Lake Community College.

He met the love of his life, Val, in 2015. They shared many years together forming a bond while navigating life’s joys and challenges. He loved Val’s children as his own, and embraced his role as a father to them.

Everyone that knew Joe, knew about his unique sense of humor. He challenged others with his intellect, and was always willing to debate. If you debated with him, he would certainly give you a different way of thinking about things.

Joe enjoyed spending time with family at the ranch in Southern Utah. It was a special place for him to connect with nature. He went on many hikes there, and even fried up a rattlesnake one time for dinner. He said it tasted like chicken.

Joe will be missed dearly by all who were blessed to be a part of his life. We will always love him and keep him alive in our hearts.

Joe is survived by his wife, Valerie Snyder (Jane and Asher), Mother, Pauline Hood, Father, Curt Hood (Karma, Sonam, Tshering), Catherine Hood (Miles), Matthew Hood (Madalie, Asher, Boston). He is preceded in death by his brother Tony Hood.

There will be a gathering on October 7, 2024 for family and close friends.
