Joyce Maureen Dixon

St. George, Utah

Joyce was born in 1928, grew up in California, and graduated from Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. She married Jack Shotsberger, and they lived first in Hawaii, then Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and finally North Carolina, until he passed away in 1993. She remarried twice, the second time to Billy Dixon in 1996, and moved to St. George, Utah, living out her days there.

No matter where she lived, she was a committed church goer. She was devoted to the Scriptures and taught Sunday school throughout her adult life into her 80s. She was also an avid candlemaker, and would often use her candles as illustrations in talks to Christian Women's Club and other gatherings.

She is remembered fondly for her mentoring of young women through Pioneer Girls, as well as her Christian witness to all who she encountered. She had an unrivaled green thumb, and used her skills to grow tropical plants at home (especially hibiscus) and arrange flowers for many churches.

Joyce is survived by her two sons, Steve Aubrey and Paul Shotsberger, and her stepchildren Michael Dixon, James Dixon, and Cathy Lund. The family's appreciation goes to Sterling Court Assisted Living, Canyon Home Care and Hospice, and Intermountain Health. They all went out of their way to make Joyce and her family feel loved and cared for.

Joyce supported overseas missions throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, any memorial gifts should be made to Transforming Nations (transforming-nations.org) and designated for Egypt.

A remembrance service will be held at a later date.

Cremation services were performed by Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.

Friends and family are invited to sign Joyce's online guestbook at www.SpilsburyMortuary.com
