Katheryn Ann Carter Rosenlund
“Judy” • May 14, 1945 – October 29, 2026
Our beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Katheryn Ann Carter Rosenlund, known and loved by all as Judy, passed away on October 29, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah. She was 81 years old. She was born in Moroni, Utah, to Stanley Elmer and Hazel Adele Carter. When Katheryn was brought home, Gwen, her older sister, asked what her parents were going to name her. Her mom asked Gwen if she liked the name Katheryn, and Gwen said, “Yes, but I’m calling her Judy.” The name Judy came from a comic strip in the Sunday newspaper. The nickname Gwen gave her stayed with her for the rest of her life.
Our mom married the love of her life, Tom Rosenlund, on March 21, 1964, and they spent 62 years together. Until the day she left us, it was always her and Dad. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them. When they were younger, Mom and Dad enjoyed camping and family get-togethers. They had a family tradition with extended family to go to Cherry Hills every summer. She really enjoyed spending time there with everyone including all her nieces, nephews and grandkids. Mom enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz together on TV with my dad. In their younger years, they loved escaping for a little while with a trip to Wendover. Mom began working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1975 and continued until her retirement in April 2000. During her years at Mountain Bell, she made many lasting friendships that she cherished.
Our Mom had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making everyone around her laugh. We will always remember her singing “Goodnight Irene”. All of us have asked over the years, who is Irene?” Mom kept a special tradition of calling each of her loved ones on their birthday and singing to them, a gift her family will always cherish. Mom was also very creative and, in earlier years, enjoyed making scrapbooks, sewing and quilting. Mom was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith was an important part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley Elmer and Hazel Adele Carter, and her sisters, Sherry (Don) Brewer, Bonnie (Bob) Johnson, and Grace Suzanne Carter.
Mom is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Tom Rosenlund; her two daughters, Teresa Harrell and Maria Parrish; her sister, Gwen (Blaine) Gowers; her grandchildren, Brandi Hansen (Josh Nielsen), Brooke (Mike) Wall, Tyson Harrell, Brittany Harrell (Chris Dell), Sasha Brewer, Nigel Parrish, Zyahna Parrish, Malaquia Parrish, and Jericha (James) Parrish; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In honor of our Mom (Judy), there will be a celebration of life on Tuesday, November 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the LDS church located at 6500 S. Dixie Dr, 3655 West Jordan, Utah 84084. A light lunch will be provided. Please join us in celebrating her life.
