Kathleen Louise Pike, favorite daughter, sister, and aunt, died July 14, 2024 at age 73.
Born in Salt Lake City on September 29, 1950 to Malcolm England Pike and Geneve Davis Pike, Kathi was the youngest and the only surviving sister in a family of boys: Malcolm Davis, Thomas Gerald, John David, and Douglas Edward. Kathi cared for her widowed mother for many years, and together they kept a vast network of Pikes and Davises and their in-laws connected despite the upheavals of several deaths and multiple storms of life.
Kathi was a meticulous record keeper, which served her well as she spent most of her career in the banking industry at Key Bank and Zions Bank.
Kathi was the Pike Family Encyclopedia. If you needed an address or phone number, she had it. She attended everyone’s plays, promotions, and performances. Kathi never missed a birthdate or anniversary, sending hundreds of handmade cards to friends and family members over decades of special occasions.
Kathi loved performing and loved sharing her talents and cheering on family members as they shared theirs. She sang in the Tabernacle Choir with her father and brother, Mick, and was a faithful member of her church’s ward and stake choirs. She frequently attended the opera with family, and starred in many local musical theater productions, her favorite being The Sound of Music. When she wasn’t on the stage, Kathi was in the audience. She was a devoted fan of Michael Crawford’s Phantom, the late Robert Peterson and Ralph Rodgers, and all of her nieces and nephews.
Kathi had a delightful, spicy sense of humor. She always wanted to be where family was, and didn’t miss a trip to Bear Lake or a Sunday night family dinner. Despite suffering from mouth cancer (squamous-cell carcinoma) and interstitial lung disease over the last few years, if there was a party, Kathi was there, often bearing homemade cranberry sauce or peanut bars.
Kathi’s legacy of music, family, and traditions will survive in three generations of nieces and nephews who will miss her.
The family wishes to specifically thank those who provided hospice care: Stephen Scoville, Alex Ray and Alexis Hilkey. We are also indebted to the good care of Jennifer Moulton, medical director at Highland Cove, Sarah Wilson (chaplain) and the rest of their team of caregivers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26 at noon with a visitation prior at 10 a.m. at 2702 E. Evergreen Avenue in Millcreek, Utah. Interment will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
