June 10, 1943 – October 28, 2025

Kay Thomson Wood, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025. Born on June 10, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kay was the cherished daughter of James and Zelnora Thomson.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wood Jr., and her siblings Jimmy, Robert, Don, Murt, and her twin brother, Keith. She is survived by her children, Ginger and Fred (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Brittany, Serrah, and Sophia; and her great-grandchildren, James and Keerah.

A warm and spirited presence, Kay thrived in her community. She was an active member of the Red Hats and her local senior groups, always ready to join an outing, lend a hand, or share a laugh. Her sense of adventure carried her far—from Alaskan cruises to backpacking through Europe, as well as countless state-side trips shared with loved ones.

Driven by compassion, Kay spent many years working with Volunteers of America, a path that eventually brought her to meaningful work in hospice care. Her kindness, patience, and generous heart touched countless lives.

Kay spent most of her life in Salt Lake City before moving to Mesquite, Nevada, in 2017 to enjoy its warmer climate and welcoming community.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and joyful curiosity about the world. Kay will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Baird and Palmer families for their loving care and support during Kay’s time in Mesquite.
