Kenneth R. Gleason

Feb 5, 1940 Jan 10, 2025

The Family of Kenneth R. Gleason of Salt Lake City is saddened to announce his peaceful passing on January 10th, 2025, at the age of 84 years. Ken was born February 5th, 1940, to Ross and Lee Anna Gleason in Ogden, Utah. He was very much his father’s son, a gentleman cowboy who loved to relish in the past.

Ken wanted to see the world, so he joined the Navy, only to be stationed in the middle of Death Valley. After discharge, he pursued a career as a printer and an entrepreneur in Salt Lake City. Ken met the love of his life, Patty, at the Usquebaugh Ski Club. They married and had two sons who were his pride and joy.

To know Ken was to love him. He sought to engage people and had an inquisitive mind. He freely gave advice, whether you wanted it or not, and it was very important to him to help his neighbors and friends whenever needed. Kind-hearted and intelligent, he took control after his diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis and was his own best advocate challenging the medical profession. He is finally free of being tethered to his disease.

He will be lovingly remembered by all of his family: Patty, his tireless caregiver and loving wife of 56 years; Ross, his oldest son with a proud military career and providing him two grand-children; Patrick, his youngest son and best friend, encouraging him along the way; and

his sisters, Ann McLean and Mary (Kim) Wallace, brother-in-law Raymond Linn, and their loving families.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later date. In the meantime, memorial donations may be made in Ken Gleason’s name to The Assistance League of Salt Lake City. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Foothill VA Medical Center and Canyon Hospice for their care and compassion through this difficult time.
