Lawrence Steed
June 23, 1938 - February 3, 2026
Lawrence was born on June 23, 1938, in Kanab, Utah, to Newel K. Steed and Eliza Pugh Steed. He grew up on the ranch in Johns Valley, Utah, where he learned the value of hard work, family, and community.
Lawrence's family was the center of his life, and he took great joy and pride in his many children and grandchildren, cherishing the time he spent with them and the milestones he witnessed in their lives.
Lawrence loved music, dance, and education, and he devoted his life to all three. He became a lifelong educator in both scholastics and music, eventually serving as Principal, first of the elementary school and then the high school in Colorado City, Arizona. He led the choir after his father passed away and taught and directed the band, sharing his passion for music with generations of students.
Deeply involved in his community, he especially enjoyed participating in local events, including the beloved 4th of July celebrations. He will be remembered for his dedication to learning, his love of music, and his unwavering commitment to his family and community. Lawrence leaves behind a large and loving posterity who will carry his legacy forward with gratitude and affection.
