Leon Dale Smith, 88, passed away May 6, 2026 after an 8 month fight with cancer. He was born on November 1, 1937 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Vernon and Grace (Caldwell) Smith. He married Ora Lundberg on April 13, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was raised in Stillwater, Oklahoma. One of his first jobs had him working for his uncle running moonshine which eventually led to him joining the army. After he got out of the army, he worked several odd jobs across the county and eventually landed in Utah where he started his own well-respected roofing business which he continued to run until his death. He also met the love of his life, Ora, and raised their 5 kids here. He enjoyed operating a rodeo business, owning race horses, and his membership at the Elks lodge where he was once Elk of the year. He was always active in junior rodeo with his boys and as president of the WJRA. He really loved and was always supporting local rodeo. He also enjoyed daily lunches with his lifelong friend, Val Holyoak, and drinking a few beers with the guys. He was a hard working and generous man. He was loved and will be missed by many. He is survived by Ora (Washington, Utah). Children Steve Smith (Sparks, Nevada), Debbie (Marty) Maggard (Washington, Utah), Jay (Angie) Smith (Washington, Utah), Tammy (Ray) Adams (Santa Clara, Utah), and Cory Smith (Central, Utah). 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, brother Jerry, nephew Toby, and grandson Brant.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 12th, at 11am-1230pm at Spilsbury Mortuary. Followed by graveside service at 1pm at Washington City Cemetery.
